The refurbishment of the Central Land Council’s offices in the Northern Territory, Australia, was driven by a focus on improving functionality and ensuring privacy. With sensitive discussions taking place within the building, the client’s brief emphasised the need for superior acoustics in every space to maintain confidentiality and create a comfortable environment.
To address the client’s needs, Co-Lab Architects selected Zintra acoustic panels in plain colours for two walls in each meeting room, offering superior sound absorption and creating a professional, discreet environment. In common areas, Zintra Timber Spotted Gum was incorporated for its warmth, acoustic properties, and seamless integration with the existing design aesthetic.
Managing acoustics in spaces with high ceilings posed a challenge, so we recommended Mesh Baffles Herringbone for their effective sound control, versatility, and colour options. The colours—Sunshine, Blush, and Tar—were carefully chosen to reflect the Aboriginal flag, adding a meaningful cultural element to the design.
This innovative approach to acoustics and design ensures the Central Land Council’s offices foster privacy, comfort, and a culturally respectful atmosphere.
